This time, we set off for a short escape to explore Slovenia. Our base was Terme Ptuj Camping, one of the top five campsites in the country. We paid 118 euros for two nights, which covered the camper spot, electricity, and two adults. But here’s the best part: the price also included wristbands for full access to the thermal spa complex for three days! Since a daily ticket is 18 euros per person, it felt like the camping stay itself was free.
The campsite sits right by the Drava River, and the thermal spa is an impressive complex: Olympic-size pool, waterslides, jacuzzis, saunas, steam baths… Our favorite discovery? A row of random lounge chairs tucked in the shade of a small forest surrounding the pools – the perfect hideaway for a lazy afternoon.

The town of Ptuj is just 2 km away, connected by bike paths. It’s a quiet, charming place with the feel of an old Central European town.

From Ptuj, we drove towards Brežice, passing through villages, stopping in the hills near Svetli Dol, and visiting our friends Sara and Nejc from Balkan Campers. The road followed the Sava River, with quick stops for photos on random meadows, passing Laško (famous for its spa and brewery). The trip reminded us why we love Slovenia: bike paths everywhere, carefully protected nature, and cows sunbathing by the road. Slovenia is simply – green.
